First of all, we are excited that you are thinking about worshipping with us. What should you expect when you visit Brooklyn Lutheran?
There is no dress-code. Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Are you a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal? Great! Do you prefer a suit and tie? No problem. “People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7).
Bring your kids. Jesus wants them there, and so do we. We love hearing their little voices praising Jesus right along with the rest of us. We understand if they get fussy, so we’ve got some things to help: activity bags to keep them occupied, a Quiet Zone to calm them down, and kid-friendly bathrooms. “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14).
Participate as much as you want. We love to sing but if you don’t, that’s fine! We love to give back a portion of the gifts that God gives to us as an offering but if you aren’t moved to do so, we won’t judge! If the Spirit moves you to respond with an “Amen!” or “Alleluia!” – Awesome! Bottom line … you won’t be pressured to do anything you aren’t comfortable doing. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7).
We are just like you. We come from all walks of life. We are real people looking for real solutions to our real struggles. You pay a doctor to give it to you straight. We’re a church that does the same – for free! Our message is always Bible-based. That means it’s God’s Word, not human opinion. You may not always hear what you want to hear, but you will hear what we all need to hear. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus (Romans 3:23,24).
Our goal is simple: we use the Good News of Jesus to guide the searching, give hope to the lost, comfort the hurting, strengthen our relationship with God, and cultivate lives of faith-driven service—all to the glory of God.
