About Brooklyn LutheranBrooklyn Lutheran is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. We believe, teach and confess that man is saved alone by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, true God and true man. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9 Brooklyn Evangelical Lutheran Church (Brooklyn Center Lutheran Mission) held its first church service on February 1, 1959 at the Willow Lane Elementary School Annex on 70th and Osseo Road. (Now Brooklyn Boulevard and the building have since burned down.) The pastors of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis supervised the organizing of the future congregation. In March of 1959, land was purchased and a parsonage was built, which was used as a temporary chapel. Pastor Wilbur Dorn was the first pastor to serve Brooklyn Lutheran. The building of the church began in 1961 and was dedicated in November of 1961. An addition was built on in 1983 and remodeling of the chapel in 1993. Pastor Curtis Holub was installed to serve this congregation in March, 1999. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1975. He served congregations in Michigan, Connecticut and Wisconsin before coming to Brooklyn Park. |
